I am so happy to finally have a picure of Derek and I to post! His aunt did some engagement pics for us last weekend, and these are the low resolution proofs, but I'm posting anyway! Is he not just so cute!? I know that I am happy as can be!

A wedding in the works
Okay, okay! I know I didn't give any details in my last post about my wonderful man or the wedding plans. I was actually wanting to post some pictures of us together, but I still don't have any because he's camera shy! He tells me to photo shop a picture of Brad Pitt in with me so nobody knows who I'm really marrying. But no worries, I will get a picture of us one of these days! Regardless, I do have some pictures from the night we got engaged, just not of us. :) Many of you have already heard the story, but for fun I'm going to write it anyway. Derek is building a house on 3 acres out by Plain City. Earlier in the week he built a fire pit and benches out at the back of the property behind the barn. He asked me if I wanted to bring the boys out that weekend, have a big bonfire, and cook dinner and smores in it. That sounded great to me and we were all pretty excited about it. Here are some pictures of the boys out by the fire, it was a big, very hot fire!
So we made our dinner and were sitting there eating when suddenly I noticed something light up out of the corner of my eye. I looked up and the roof of the barn about 70 ft. away was all lit up. I was confused wondering if I had just barely noticed that after an hour of being there, or if it had really just lit up. (it turns out I wasn't as oblivious as I thought, the lights did just barely turn on) Derek says I looked at the barn real quick, then to him in confusion, and back to the barn. Then I read the words, "Will You Marry Me" spelled out in Christmas lights on the roof, and understanding came. I was so surprised! Then Derek looked at me, smiled, took my hand and got down on one knee, put a ring on my finger (which he picked out by himself and which I love!) and asked me to marry him. I am totally in love with him, and was so excited, and surprised, but of course I said yes! And the boys were just sitting in their little chairs watching the whole show. It was neat to have them there, and they both loved the lights. The lights are still up on the barn, and it is kind of special that we got engaged in the place where we will share our lives together. Every time I see that barn I'll remember Derek proposing. I can't even explain how happy I am. Derek is such an amazing and wonderful man. I can't imagine ever being without him now. This just feels so right, like we were always meant to be together. So the date is set for Jan. 10th. We want a very small ceremony, but we'll be doing a very laid back open house of sorts, or something, about a week later. I couldn't get a very good picture of the lit up words with my little camera, but it was all I had so here's a picture of the attempt. It looked much better than the picture!

The Birthday Party!!!!
I must really, really love Brendyn. We had a birthday party for him here on Friday, and we had 10 kids there!!! It was very fun though, I would do it again, in a couple years. We will only have parties every other year! He loves dinosaurs, so that was the party theme. We had a balloon game where they had to keep their flying dinosaur up in the air, a "cake walk" type game, where they walked on dinosaur footprints while the music was on, and some footprints had pictures of dinosaurs, and when the music stopped if they landed on the picture I held up they got some candy. We did this until everybody won once. It was a big hit! Then we had a ring toss with a giant triceratops, and then decorated cupcakes and opened presents. All in one crazy hour! What fun!
The Birthday Boy
Brendyn is 4!!! And trust me, if he sees you, he will let you know! He sees complete strangers and always tells me to tell them that he is 4. Ironically he was invited to another little boy's birthday party on his birthday, hence the pirate pictures, it was a pirate party. After that we had a pizza party at our house with my family and Derek, and we all made our own and then had cake and presents. Brendyn's favorite is his bike, helmet, and pads that came with it. He even had to wear the whole get-up to the grocery store the next day!
Ammon had to be right in the middle of things with his brother!

Better Late Than Never
So I realized that I never posted any pictures of the Primary Halloween Party, my bad! Sadly Ammon was a little left out on this one, he wasn't invited so he didn't get to dress up, but we still let him tag along!
Rrrrrrr!
This is Brendyn at the party
And this is little Ammon getting in on some of the action. He saw others getting their faces painted and he walked over, pushed a chair up, and sat down by the girl doing the face painting. She just laughed and asked him if he wanted a pumpkin on his face. He nodded his head and smiled. I was amazed at how still he was! He didn't move, he really wanted his face painted!

Cookies!!!
Cookie any one? I'll tell you what, they didn't last long around here, but we sure had fun making them, and especially eating them! Am I the only one that would rather eat the cookie dough than the cookie? I wish I would have saved some more of the dough for my eating pleasure. We had a blast though, this is the first time I've made sugar cookies with the kids, and they loved it! Brendyn couldn't get enough of using the cookie cutters, and Ammon couldn't get enough of sticking his fingers in the flour!
Fire!!!
The weather is so nice still that we just HAVE to take advantage of it. We had Family Home Evening in the mountains last week. We had a nice fire and roasted weenies. Of course me and my kids ate something else, but it was fun just to be up there by the fire. I think I am truly a pyro at heart! And it must be genetic because my kids seem to be too. Ahh, I just love a good fire!
The mountains!
A couple weeks ago Derek and I took the boys up to the Mantua campgrounds to hike around and see the leaves. It was so beautiful up there! We had such a great time, although our hike consisted of Derek carrying one kid and me carrying the other most the time, but that's ok, it was a good workout, especially since Brendyn didn't want to stop! Don't you just love being outside? Especially in the mountains? We do!!!

Happy Halloween!!!!
Happy Halloween! We had a wonderful time this year! Brendyn dressed up as a dragon and went around "blowing fire" on people. He's been dressing up in his costume for a month so he was pretty excited to actually use it for real. Ammon was a cowboy (an old costume of Brendyn's, that's the great thing about having two boys!) and I last minute decided to dress up and threw together the cowgirl look to match Ammon. Steph invited us to go to the Boo Fest with her this year, wich was a blast because she's fun enough to really dress up for it. After that we came home for a Halloweeny dinner of soup and bread bowls with Halloween cookies and witches brew. Then we hit the neighborhood for a little trick-or-treating. Both boys were so excited and crazy, but after doing only our street, Brendyn was asking to go home to bed. You don't know how happy that made me! I have to explain the last picture, not that it probably needs explaining, but that was right after trick-or-treating, and well, Brendyn really had to go, and we just happened to capture the moment. Just thought I'd share!

Yellowstone
You read right, it says Yellowstone, and yes we are crazy, and yes it was freezing, and yes it was a blast! I would do it again in a second! We spent conference weekend up in West Yellowstone, leaving here Friday morning, and staying there until Sunday morning. So much fun! Buffalo were everywhere, and we rolled Brendyn's window down in the midst of them. One was so close he could have reached out and touched it if he was brave enough, but he knew I would kill him if he did. The fear of mom, not the fear of buffalo held him back. Ammon was bouncing up and down in his carseat with excitement. Ha, ha! It was so fun to watch those two! There was snow on the ground, and seriously the minute we arrived Brendyn was throwing snowballs at me. Don't worry, I got him back. Unfortunately he taught Ammon, and the two ganged up on me. Too bad for them I'm super-mom, there is just no match for me!
